ABOUT US

DAVID L. SMITH will be 62 in October.  He was born and raised in Charlotte, NC.

He started working when he was 8 years old, helping to support his family by working with his dad in a dry cleaners on the weekend and, later on, delivering the local newspaper with him.  As soon as he was old enough, he started working at a local McDonald's restaurant.

He continued working at McDonald's, with regular promotions and added responsibility, until he enlisted into the US Army at age 18 and volunteered for Vietnam.

After his three year enlistment was completed, he worked for

awhile in a

factory in

Connecticut

before returning

to the restaurant

business in

Charlotte.

The past 15 years,

he has been an

employee of the

United States Postal

Service in Charlotte.

David is a very compassionate and caring person.  He is ready to help whenever he can, whether the need is for a family member, friend, or stranger on the street.  He has been taking in stray dogs and giving them a safe and loving home all his life.  Now he has also taken in two homeless cats and they, too, receive the same (sometimes more) love and attention from David, as the three rescued dogs get.

David is a proud man and is used to being the one others turn to for help.  Now, he is the one in need and I am pleading with anyone who reads this to help any way you can and to share this with as many people as you can.

If you saw a man drowning and you could help save him, would you?

If all you had to help save him was a 1-foot length of rope, which you know would not be enough to save him, would you just leave him to drown?

What if you took your 1-foot length of rope and called as many people as you could and they all came with a 1-foot length of rope and they called everyone they could, who also brought a 1-foot length of rope.  Soon, all those 1-foot lengths of rope, which would be of no use alone, could be joined together to make a lifeline to save the man from drowning.

Wouldn't that be a worthwhile thing to do?

Now, instead of 1-foot lengths of rope, this man needs $1.00 bills to save him from being tossed out of his home, along with the rest of his family, but with nowhere to go and only our feet to carry us.

This man, has somehow, managed to keep his (and his family's) head above water and keep us afloat for a very long and difficult year but, now there is no hope in staying afloat without the help of others.

PLEASE, will you help?
